Released for the Super Nintendo in 1995, The Amazing Spider-Man: Lethal Foes is a platformer developed by Epoch. It blends platformer and action elements.

It landed about 4 years into the SNES's life. Other notable SNES releases from 1995 include Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

It is part of the Spider-Man series; on the SNES you can also try Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety, Spider-Man Animated Series and Spider-Man: Venom: Maximum Carnage. The series also appears on other systems with Spider-Man (N64) and Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six (NES). Epoch also made Capcom's Soccer Shootout and Soccer Shootout for the SNES.

The Amazing Spider-Man: Lethal Foes supports up to 2 players, whether that means taking turns or going head-to-head.

  • you have time for an evening or two (roughly 1–6 hours to see it through)

  • you get frustrated by precise jumps and limited lives

What playing The Amazing Spider-Man: Lethal Foes is like

Platformers are all about movement: running, jumping and timing your way across levels full of gaps, enemies and secrets. The best ones feel great to control within seconds and then slowly teach you to master every leap.

Tip for newcomers: Retro platformers often have limited lives and few checkpoints. Learn one level at a time, look for hidden 1-ups, and don't be shy about using a save feature when it is available.
