Released for the Super Nintendo in 1993, Street Fighter II Turbo is a fighting game developed by Capcom. This SNES release is a port or adaptation of a game that first appeared in 1992.

It landed about 2 years into the SNES's life. Other notable SNES releases from 1993 include Super Mario All-Stars, Secret of Mana and The Lost Vikings.

It is part of the Street Fighter series; on the SNES you can also try Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter II and Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers. The series also appears on other systems with Street Fighter Alpha (PS1) and Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers (Genesis). Capcom also made Mega Man X, Mega Man 7 and Mega Man X2 for the SNES.

Street Fighter II Turbo supports up to 2 players, whether that means taking turns or going head-to-head.

Pick it if…

  • you want to fight, blast and test your reflexes
  • you have time for a quick session (under an hour, or endless arcade fun)
  • you have a friend to play against
  • you've played the SNES hits and want something less obvious

Maybe skip it if…

  • you prefer story-driven games or have no one to play against

What playing Street Fighter II Turbo is like

Fighting games pit two characters against each other in short one-on-one bouts. Depth comes from learning special moves, combos and each character's strengths.

Tip for newcomers: Pick one character and learn their basic special moves before branching out. Fighting games are at their best against a friend at a similar skill level.
