Developed by Iguana Entertainment and published by Acclaim, NBA Jam: Tournament Edition arrived on the Super Nintendo in 1995 as a sports game. This SNES release is a port or adaptation of a game that first appeared in 1994.

It landed about 4 years into the SNES's life. Other notable SNES releases from 1995 include Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

It is part of the NBA Jam series; on the SNES you can also try NBA Jam. The series also appears on other systems with NBA Jam (Genesis) and NBA Jam (Sega CD). Iguana Entertainment also made Aero the Acro-Bat, Aero the Acro-Bat 2 and Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel for the SNES.

NBA Jam: Tournament Edition supports up to 4 players, whether that means taking turns or going head-to-head.
