Racing is a racing game released in 1999 for the PlayStation, developed by Tamsoft Corporation and published by A1 Games.
It landed about 4 years into the PS1's life. Other notable PS1 releases from 1999 include Grand Theft Auto 2, Final Fantasy VIII and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
It is part of the Simple 1500 series; on the PS1 you can also try Shooter: Space Shot and Bowling. The series also appears on other systems with Volfied (Genesis) and Volfied (C64). Tamsoft Corporation also made Guardian's Crusade for the PS1.
Racing is a single-player game, so it's one to enjoy at your own pace.
Pick it if…
- you want to race and compete
- you have time for a quick session (under an hour, or endless arcade fun)
- you've played the PS1 hits and want something less obvious
Maybe skip it if…
- you want a story or exploration rather than laps
- you are looking for something to play with friends
What playing Racing is like
Racing games range from realistic driving to kart racers with weapons and shortcuts. Races are short, making them great for quick sessions and split-screen rivalries.
Tip for newcomers: Learn each track's racing line and braking points; in kart racers, item strategy matters as much as driving.
