Developed by LJN and published by Acclaim, WWF Royal Rumble arrived on the Super Nintendo in 1993 as a sports game.

It landed about 2 years into the SNES's life. Other notable SNES releases from 1993 include Super Mario All-Stars, Secret of Mana and The Lost Vikings.

It is part of the WWF series; on the SNES you can also try WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game, WWF Super WrestleMania and WWF Raw. The series also appears on other systems with WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game (32X) and WWF King of the Ring (NES). LJN also made Cutthroat Island, Alien 3 and NBA All-Star Challenge for the SNES.

WWF Royal Rumble supports up to 2 players, whether that means taking turns or going head-to-head.

Pick it if…

  • you want to race and compete
  • you have time for a quick session (under an hour, or endless arcade fun)
  • you have a friend to play against

Maybe skip it if…

  • you need current teams and rosters

What playing WWF Royal Rumble is like

Sports games bring football, baseball, hockey, golf, tennis, wrestling and more to the console, from simulation-style management to over-the-top arcade action.

Tip for newcomers: Arcade-style sports games are the easiest to enjoy today; simulation titles may have outdated rosters but still offer satisfying gameplay.
