Developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo, Kirby's Dream Land 3 arrived on the Super Nintendo in 1997 as a platformer.

It landed about 6 years into the SNES's life. Other notable SNES releases from 1997 include Space Invaders, The Lost Vikings 2 and Super Bomberman 5. Among the 140 SNES platformers in our database, it ranks #9 by legacy score.

It is part of the Kirby series; on the SNES you can also try Kirby Super Star, Kirby's Avalanche and Kirby's Dream Course. The series also appears on other systems with Kirby's Adventure (NES) and Kirby's Dream Land (Game Boy). HAL Laboratory also made Alcahest, Arcana and Hyper Zone for the SNES.

This is a solo experience: one player, no waiting on anyone else.

What playing Kirby's Dream Land 3 is like

Platformers are all about movement: running, jumping and timing your way across levels full of gaps, enemies and secrets. The best ones feel great to control within seconds and then slowly teach you to master every leap.

Tip for newcomers: Retro platformers often have limited lives and few checkpoints. Learn one level at a time, look for hidden 1-ups, and don't be shy about using a save feature when it is available.
