Developed by Runecraft and published by Take 2 Interactive, Space Station Silicon Valley arrived on the PlayStation in 2000 as a platformer. Depending on the region, you may also know it as Evo's Space Adventures. This PS1 release is a port or adaptation of a game that first appeared in 1998. It blends platformer and adventure elements.

It landed about 5 years into the PS1's life. Other notable PS1 releases from 2000 include Final Fantasy IX, Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

Runecraft also made Barbie Explorer, Arthur! Ready to Race and Men in Black: The Series – Crashdown for the PS1.

This is a solo experience: one player, no waiting on anyone else.

Pick it if…

  • you want to run, jump and explore
  • you have time for a weekend project (roughly 6–20 hours)
  • you've played the PS1 hits and want something less obvious

Maybe skip it if…

  • you get frustrated by precise jumps and limited lives
  • you are looking for something to play with friends

What playing Space Station Silicon Valley is like

Platformers are all about movement: running, jumping and timing your way across levels full of gaps, enemies and secrets. The best ones feel great to control within seconds and then slowly teach you to master every leap.

Tip for newcomers: Retro platformers often have limited lives and few checkpoints. Learn one level at a time, look for hidden 1-ups, and don't be shy about using a save feature when it is available.
