Developed by Full Fat and published by Zoo Digital Publishing, Pac-Man World 2 arrived on the Game Boy Advance in 2005 as a platformer. This GBA release is a port or adaptation of a game that first appeared in 2002.

It landed about 4 years into the GBA's life. Other notable GBA releases from 2005 include Pokémon Emerald, Mario Party Advance and WarioWare: Twisted!.

It is part of the Pac-Man series; on the GBA you can also try Pac-Man Collection, Pac-Man Pinball Advance and Pac-Man World. The series also appears on other systems with Pac-Man (2600) and Pac-Man (5200). Full Fat also made SimCity 2000, Justice League: Chronicles and Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 3 for the GBA.

This is a solo experience: one player, no waiting on anyone else.

Pick it if…

  • you want to run, jump and explore
  • you have time for an evening or two (roughly 1–6 hours to see it through)

Maybe skip it if…

  • you get frustrated by precise jumps and limited lives
  • you are looking for something to play with friends

What playing Pac-Man World 2 is like

Platformers are all about movement: running, jumping and timing your way across levels full of gaps, enemies and secrets. The best ones feel great to control within seconds and then slowly teach you to master every leap.

Tip for newcomers: Retro platformers often have limited lives and few checkpoints. Learn one level at a time, look for hidden 1-ups, and don't be shy about using a save feature when it is available.
