Commando Classic
Atari · 1986
Designed in 1984 and released widely in 1986, the Atari 7800 ProSystem could display far more sprites than its predecessors and played almost the entire 2600 library. It went up against the NES with arcade conversions like Food Fight, Joust and Robotron: 2084.
The 7800 has a compact library with a handful of standout arcade ports and a lively homebrew scene. The Atari 2600+ and 7800+ reissues play original 7800 cartridges over HDMI.
Matrix Picks tracks 59 7800 games, 37 of which support two or more players.
