Released for the PlayStation in 1997, Lethal Enforcers is a shooter developed by Konami. This PS1 release is a port or adaptation of a game that first appeared in 1992.

It landed about 2 years into the PS1's life. Other notable PS1 releases from 1997 include Grand Theft Auto, Final Fantasy VII and Duke Nukem 3D.

It is part of the Lethal Enforcers series; on the PS1 you can also try Lethal Enforcers II: Gun Fighters. The series also appears on other systems with Lethal Enforcers (Genesis) and Lethal Enforcers II: Gun Fighters (Genesis). Konami also made Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Pro Evolution Soccer 2 and ISS Pro Evolution 2 for the PS1.

Lethal Enforcers supports up to 2 players, including cooperative play, which makes it a strong pick for playing with a friend.

Pick it if…

  • you want to fight, blast and test your reflexes
  • you have time for an evening or two (roughly 1–6 hours to see it through)
  • you want a game to beat together with a friend
  • you've played the PS1 hits and want something less obvious

Maybe skip it if…

  • you are not a fan of fast-paced aiming and twitch reflexes

What playing Lethal Enforcers is like

Shooters are built around aiming and firing, from first-person corridor blasters and light-gun games to run-and-gun stages and multidirectional arcade shooters.

Tip for newcomers: Retro shooters were designed for CRT TVs and original controllers; light-gun games in particular need special hardware or alternative controls on modern screens.
