Developed by Psygnosis, Colony Wars: Vengeance arrived on the PlayStation in 1998 as a simulation game. It blends simulation and action elements.

It landed about 3 years into the PS1's life. Other notable PS1 releases from 1998 include Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2 and Tomb Raider II.

It is part of the Colony Wars series; on the PS1 you can also try Colony Wars and Colony Wars: Red Sun. Psygnosis also made Wipeout 2097, Wipeout and The Adventures of Lomax for the PS1.

This is a solo experience: one player, no waiting on anyone else.

Pick it if…

  • you want to think and plan
  • you have time for a weekend project (roughly 6–20 hours)
  • you've played the PS1 hits and want something less obvious

Maybe skip it if…

  • you want clear goals and a defined ending
  • you are looking for something to play with friends
