Developed by Compile and published by SEGA, Power Strike II arrived on the Sega Master System in 1993 as a shoot 'em up.

It landed about 7 years into the Master System's life. Other notable Master System releases from 1993 include Sonic Chaos, James Bond 007: The Duel and Winter Olympics. Among the 31 Master System shoot 'em ups in our database, it ranks #20 by legacy score.

It is part of the Aleste series; on the Master System you can also try Aleste and Power Strike. The series also appears on other systems with Space Megaforce (SNES) and Power Strike II (Game Gear). Compile also made R-Type, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Ghostbusters for the Master System.

This is a solo experience: one player, no waiting on anyone else.

Pick it if…

  • you want to fight, blast and test your reflexes
  • you have time for a quick session (under an hour, or endless arcade fun)
  • you've played the Master System hits and want something less obvious

Maybe skip it if…

  • you dislike high difficulty and screens full of bullets
  • you are looking for something to play with friends

What playing Power Strike II is like

Shoot 'em ups (shmups) put you in a ship facing waves of enemies and bullets. Runs are short and intense, and the goal is to survive, collect power-ups and push your high score.

Tip for newcomers: Focus on your ship's small hitbox rather than the flood of bullets, and learn which power-ups suit each stage. Most shmups are designed to be replayed many times.
