Developed by Tiertex and published by Electronic Arts, Shaq Fu arrived on the Sega Game Gear as a fighting game.

It is part of the Shaq Fu series. The series also appears on other systems with Shaq Fu (SNES) and Shaq Fu (Genesis). Tiertex also made FIFA International Soccer, Paperboy and Star Wars for the Game Gear.

This is a solo experience: one player, no waiting on anyone else.

Pick it if…

  • you want to fight, blast and test your reflexes
  • you have time for a quick session (under an hour, or endless arcade fun)
  • you've played the Game Gear hits and want something less obvious

Maybe skip it if…

  • you prefer story-driven games or have no one to play against
  • you are looking for something to play with friends

What playing Shaq Fu is like

Fighting games pit two characters against each other in short one-on-one bouts. Depth comes from learning special moves, combos and each character's strengths.

Tip for newcomers: Pick one character and learn their basic special moves before branching out. Fighting games are at their best against a friend at a similar skill level.
