Developed by Victor Interactive and published by Natsume, Harvest Moon GBC arrived on the Game Boy Color in 1998 as a simulation game.

It belongs to the GBC's earliest wave of games. Other notable GBC releases from 1998 include Wario Land II, Pokémon Trading Card Game and Bomberman Quest.

It is part of the Harvest Moon series; on the GBC you can also try Harvest Moon 2 GBC, Harvest Moon 3 GBC and Harvest Moon GB. The series also appears on other systems with Harvest Moon (SNES) and Harvest Moon 64 (N64). Victor Interactive also made Legend of the River King GB, Legend of the River King GBC and Legend of the River King 2 for the GBC.

Harvest Moon GBC supports up to 2 players, whether that means taking turns or going head-to-head.

Pick it if…

  • you want to think and plan
  • you have time for a weekend project (roughly 6–20 hours)
  • you have a friend to play against
  • you've played the GBC hits and want something less obvious

Maybe skip it if…

  • you want clear goals and a defined ending

What playing Harvest Moon GBC is like

Simulation games model a system and let you play inside it, whether that means building a city, flying a plane, raising a pet or running a business.

Tip for newcomers: Simulations are often open-ended. Set yourself small goals and enjoy experimenting with the systems.
