Developed by Human Soft and published by Eidos Interactive, Tomb Raider: Legend arrived on the Game Boy Advance in 2006 as an action game. Depending on the region, you may also know it as Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend.

It landed about 5 years into the GBA's life. Other notable GBA releases from 2006 include Mother 3, Rhythm Tengoku and Drill Dozer.

It is part of the Tomb Raider series; on the GBA you can also try Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Prophecy. The series also appears on other systems with Tomb Raider (PS1) and Tomb Raider II (PS1). Human Soft also made Ace Combat Advance, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and Jimmy Neutron vs. Jimmy Negatron for the GBA.

Tomb Raider: Legend is a single-player game, so it's one to enjoy at your own pace.

Pick it if…

  • you want to fight, blast and test your reflexes
  • you have time for an evening or two (roughly 1–6 hours to see it through)
  • you've played the GBA hits and want something less obvious

Maybe skip it if…

  • you prefer slow, thoughtful games over reflex tests
  • you are looking for something to play with friends

What playing Tomb Raider: Legend is like

Action games test reflexes and nerve. Expect fast enemies, tight controls and stages you clear by reacting quickly and learning enemy patterns.

Tip for newcomers: Retro action games are often short but tough. Treat early deaths as practice runs; every attempt teaches you where the next threat comes from.
