Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is a shooter released in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance, developed by Taniko and published by Atari SA.

It landed about 2 years into the GBA's life. Other notable GBA releases from 2003 include Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Sonic Battle.

It is part of the Terminator series. The series also appears on other systems with The Terminator (Master System) and The Terminator (Genesis). Taniko also made Masters of the Universe: He-Man: Power of Grayskull for the GBA.

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines supports up to 12 players, whether that means taking turns or going head-to-head.

Pick it if…

  • you want to fight, blast and test your reflexes
  • you have time for an evening or two (roughly 1–6 hours to see it through)
  • you have a friend to play against
  • you've played the GBA hits and want something less obvious

Maybe skip it if…

  • you are not a fan of fast-paced aiming and twitch reflexes

What playing Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is like

Shooters are built around aiming and firing, from first-person corridor blasters and light-gun games to run-and-gun stages and multidirectional arcade shooters.

Tip for newcomers: Retro shooters were designed for CRT TVs and original controllers; light-gun games in particular need special hardware or alternative controls on modern screens.
