Developed by Budcat and published by EA Sports, Madden NFL 2003 arrived on the Game Boy Advance in 2002 as a sports game.

It came out in the GBA's second year on the market. Other notable GBA releases from 2002 include Sonic Advance 2, Metroid Fusion and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Four Swords.

It is part of the Madden NFL series; on the GBA you can also try Madden NFL 06, Madden NFL 07 and Madden NFL 2002. The series also appears on other systems with Madden NFL 2004 (PS1) and Madden NFL 2002 (PS1). Budcat also made NHL 2002 for the GBA.

Madden NFL 2003 supports up to 4 players, whether that means taking turns or going head-to-head.

Pick it if…

  • you want to race and compete
  • you have time for a quick session (under an hour, or endless arcade fun)
  • you have a friend to play against
  • you've played the GBA hits and want something less obvious

Maybe skip it if…

  • you need current teams and rosters
